well i'm going to tonights game with my brand jersey on.

i really dont think its in our best interests for the clips to win , since if memphis wins tonight, we are tied for the #4 pick..

but if the clips do win and kill the last hopes of a warriors playoff berth and someone in a brand jersey gets stabbed at the game... well you'll know who it was.

you mean memphis lost...

i had a pretty good time at the warriors game. i was there with like one other guy in my section clapping and yelling lets go clippers.

some warriors fan actually yelled "why dont you two go back to kiss each other and go back to LA".

haha.
This was my first time seeing thornton play in person and i really think he is a fine replacement for magette and probably better than magette as a player.

That was actually a fun game to watch - mostly because the Warriors are the anti-Clippers and play uptempo ball and can hit the three (which Mobley did, too, for a change). Good stuff by Al T once again - if only we had an NBA level backcourt - we just might be god enough to compete for 7th or 8th in the West.

The Warriors jersey says "The City," right. And they play in Oakland. Does that mean that there is a there, there?

No Cal is so pathetic and horrible loaded with loons and non-Americans that they call San Francisco "the City." It's pretty funny since no one outside of San Francisco gives a shyte about San Francisco and most wish it would just fall off into the Pacific and take the hell hole of Oakland with it. Those people up there that go to the Oakland games are so crazy because that's all they have. There is no other there there.

Oakland is pretty nuts. I just worked a bunch there appraising vacant foreclosures and it's the only place I've ever felt uneasy at 10am. Alot of squatters in houses I was going to.
I did this one tiny old vacant shack back off of international kinda close to the Oracle and after I'd been all thru the place, I noticed on the bathroom mirror in what looked like old dried blood 'danger. aids. don't touch anything'. It's a good chance it was a bad joke and it was definately sitting there for a long time before I got to it...but it was a nice touch.

I linked to this great R. Patterson tid-bit off truehoops:

Whenever the Blazers sign a player to a 10-day contract the equipment manager provides the player with a free set of team-issue luggage. Sort of a welcome gift. Nothing incredibly fancy, but it’s way better than the stuff I have. So Omar Cook is signed a couple of years ago, and the luggage is placed in front of his locker. Cook was flying in from out of town, so he’s not there yet. Ruben Patterson, the team’s registered sex offender, sees the luggage, knows Cook isn’t around yet, and Patterson basically just decides he’s going to abscond the luggage. He just rips the name tags off and takes it. Nobody says a word, either. It’s not anything violent, but it demonstrates the lack of decency and respect that permeated.

That's some good stuff. I had seen that and chuckled. Typical thug from Cincinnati. That had to be the worst program in college ball for producing degenerates.

Al should not play 3, Hes way too big for that position if there ever was such a thing. He also needs big time help with ball handling, so putting him at 3 is a liability. Id slide him to 4, move Elton to 5. Keep your quick (and yes grossly undersized but infinitely more athletic) lineup on the court and do something the Clippers have failed to do a majority of the season: ignite a break.

LAC has Corey "Crash" Maggette and Elton Brand, why arent they just attacking that basket from every position? If they stepped up their defensive intensity (like NBA favorite headcase Ron Artest) and worked on attacking more, theyd be hard to beat. Instead they bring in these terrible contracts for Thomas and Mobely trying to be a 3 ball/shooters team with guys still having issues figuring out their own sexuality, let alone which position on the floor they play. They arent Stars. They havent been since before 2000. The last time they had a 3 point specialist was with Quentin. If the Clippers signed Nate Robinson in the off-season and focused on becoming a run-gun team theyd utilize their strengths much more, and itd be heck of a lot more fun to watch. Id like to see them pick Darius up too if he gets waived. He only seemed to fit in here, but yea, im sure yer tired of more crash players. Kaman should focus on stopping games. On making guards shake in their boots over trying to get a scoop layup past him. Not taking over games like it seems Dumbleavy keeps trying to train him for. Bring Kaman in when you want to close down the other team, otherwise leave the bottom half of the lineup with your best talent out on the floor.

Also, other gripe, how come we dont follow our own shots anymore? We toss one up, then turn around. Im so sick of the laziness on the glass, so many games can be won if they just followed their own shot and terrorized the glass and added more hustle. They could have won at least 15 more games by cleaning glass alone. And they won a couple games where they played the worst basketball in their natural lives, but they were lucky enough to be playing the 3 M's: Minnesota, Milwaukee and Memphis.

So if I had to make changes to the lineup id try:

Signing Nate Robinson next season instead of Livingston

Trading Kaman and whoever else to Philly for Lou Williams and Thaddeus Young, or a sign and trade for Andre Iguodala.

Sign Gerald Green, Have him backup Corey for 48 minutes of pure crash coverage.

Ask Corey to resign for $5-6M. Give Elton max.

New Lineup:

1 - Nate Robinson/Lou Williams - Dickau
2 - Andre Iguodala/Mobely
3 - Corey Maggette/Gerald Green
4 - Al Thornton/Elton Brand/Powll
5 - Elton Brand/A. Williams/Fazekas

Basically I want Al, Corey and Elton on the floor at all times and a mercurial guard who you dont wanna leave unguarded in the paint or on the perimeter that can find the open man, lob an alley oop to a high-flying dunker and otherwise energize the team. Id also try and shore up the 4 and 5 spots more by working a deal for Sean Williams or another 6'11" FC with hops and quickness by trading off some other pieces.

The contracts of Thomas, Mobely and Kaman are killing us though. Corey, in comparison to their contracts and his chemistry with the other talents on the team, is a steal this off-season and theres no reason not to sign him and every reason to trade the other 3 to give yourself more youth or depth.

Oh and last but not least, i'd fire Dunleavy and bring in Jeff Van Gundy and have him teach the team real defense.

I'm not so sure about Jeff Van Gundy being the answer...his teams were more boring to watch than Mike Dunleavy's current teams. We can agree that it's obvious that there needs to changes to this team, both on and off the court. It sure would be nice to find some sucker team to take Thomas' and Mobley's God-awful contracts off our hands...the only team I though would be willing to do that was the Knicks, but since Zeke Thomas is no longer in charge of basketball decisions and is on his way out...can't do that.

The Clippers have no depth on the bench, and that can due to the injuries, but even before that...the depth of the team was average at best anyway.

I'm still finding myself conflicted about Corey Maggette. While he can be a capable scorer and a hard worker, I just don't like his style of play. I wouldn't complain too much if he stays a Clipper, but I wouldn't sad either if he departs. Just don't let leave him for nothing.

I would not pick up Nate Robinson, a guy who's selfish and he can't run the offense.

Corey is 3 quarter player. He can score but when it comes to the last quarter, he just charges into everyone and throws the ball away. If we can sign him on the cheap, it's okay to have him back. As long as corey stays out during the last five minutes of the game.

Check out this quote:

"For years, Denver’s GM Mark Warkentien was Tark’s recruiter at UNLV and has gone great lengths in the Rockies to replicate those old Rebel rosters. If this incident turns out to be the beginning of the end of their season, this is an organization that needs to reevaluate everything about itself. If they just want to be entertaining, just sell jerseys, they can stay with this core. If they want more, it’ll have to change."

They used to say that Tark used to go to the jails to get his team before games. That guy was the biggest embarrassment college basketball has ever seen. Now I see where Denver gets its Crew from. It all makes sense now.
